THE JOY OF GIVING

But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to make this freewill offering? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.” - Chronicles 29:14

At Christ Church, giving is more than pledges, envelopes, and stewardship campaigns; giving is part of our spiritual journey. Our annual appeal is important as it is the starting point for our vestry budgeting process, it pays our staff, and takes care of our buildings. But at an individual level, understanding that all we have in life is not ours and that it all comes from God creates in us a thankful heart which is an important step in living a life full of peace and participating in God’s abundant generosity. We encourage every family who calls Christ Church home to prayerfully pledge at any financial level to our annual pledge drive.

You may make either a recurring or single payment annual pledge. It’s never too late to start giving. Your contribution is much appreciated and will be used solely to help the church.

If you have any questions about giving or would like to make a major gift for a specific purpose, please contact Mother Cosman.

Automated contributions

Many of our contributors use their banking institutions’ automated check writing services to fulfill their pledge. This is one of the easiest ways to make sure you never miss a regular gift you intended to make to the church.

Whether you're using a check by phone service or online banking or an app on your phone to manage the payments that you automatically have withdrawn from your checking account, you can almost invariably set up Christ Church as another payee to contribute recurring or one-time gifts to the church to be sent from your bank.

If there is a space for account number or reference, please include some indication of how you intend the contribution to be used.  Please provide your bank with the following mailing address:

Just as important as your financial contribution is a donation of your talent and/or your time. These gifts are experiential and irreplaceable. Please consider a donation of time and/or talent one time or as frequently as you are willing and able to do.

transfer stock

A stock transfer of appreciated securities is a great way to give—whether as part of your annual pledge, a one-time gift, or a legacy gift. You may receive tax benefits when giving from a Qualified Charitable Contribution (QCD) from an IRA. Consult your tax advisor for details on the tax implications of your gift. • WHAT IS THE ANNUAL APPEAL?
The Annual Appeal is the fundraising campaign that supports the mission and yearly programs of the parish. The effort is placed in the larger context of Christian stewardship, which acknowledges that all we have is a gift from God, and that we bear responsibility for giving for the spread of God’s kingdom. We appeal to parishioners to prayerfully discern how they will support the work and mission of Christ Church during the last quarter of the year because knowing the commitment and the ability of the congregation helps the Finance Committee develop a balanced budget for the following year.
  • DO I NEED TO PLEDGE? CAN’T I JUST PUT MONEY IN THE COLLECTION PLATE?
Securing pledge commitments from parishioners allows the Finance Committee to prepare a balanced budget to fund the needs and desired programs for the coming year.
  • WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT WAYS TO MAKE A DONATION?
*You can set up a recurring donation, made automatically as often as you choose—weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly. *You can make a one-time annual donation *You can pledge an annual amount and choose when and how to make payment. Donations may be made by credit card, check, PayPal, through a Donor Advised Fund, or through a transfer of securities.
  • I’M CONFUSED ABOUT THE TIMING. WHY IS THIS CALLED THE 2024 APPEAL?
The 2024 Appeal, Rooted in Abundance, supports the 2024 budget. In the last quarter of each year we appeal to parishioners for the upcoming year. Thus, in October 2023, we launched the 2024 Annual Appeal. Knowing the giving plans of our members in advance helps us best plan for the year to come.
  • HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO FULFILL MY PLEDGE? WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?
The church’s fiscal year is the calendar year, so we seek to have all pledge payments received by December 31. In addition to placing a check in the collection basket or the mail, you may pay online using a credit card, via PayPal, through a Donor Advised Fund, or stock gift. If you are age 70-1/2 or older, direct donation from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) is an attractive option, as the distribution is not treated as taxable income.
  • WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE GIVE? WHAT IS THE AVERAGE PLEDGE AMOUNT? HOW MANY PEOPLE GIVE ANNUALLY?
