Clergy
It is with heartfelt enthusiasm that on September 1st, 2022,
the Reverend Sandra Cosman became the Priest in Charge
of Christ Church Pomfret
Priest-In-Charge
The Reverend Sandra Cosman
The Reverend Sandra L. Cosman accepted the call to become Priest-in-Charge in June of 2022 and began her ministry at Christ Church on September 1 of that year.
She brought her heart for community and has fully participated in and helped expand our outreach programs, including working at the St. Nicholas Fair that funds our outreach programs; offering a monthly Eucharist service at Westview Country Living in Dayville, Connecticut; facilitating a monthly Simple Rhythms service online; and staffing collections for local food banks.
Motivated by a belief that God loves us immensely and is doing for us—and through us—better things than we could ask or imagine, she delivers compelling sermons that have strengthened and deepened the spiritual life of the Christ Church community. Similarly, her lifelong commitment to ministry—both lay and ordained—empowers the participants of the online Bible Study and leaves those whom she pays pastoral visits uplifted. She has also attracted a number of non-religious groups to rent and perform in our spaces, such as the Northeast Concert Choir, the a capella group Take Note!, and the duo of Smith & Oakes.

Her compassionate commitment to the life of the parish and goal of being able to name a ministry next to each name in the directory—as well as her demonstrated care for the larger community—have resulted in increased attendance and the exceeding of stewardship goals both years she has been with us.
Mother Cosman came to us from St. John’s Episcopal Church in Pine Meadow, Connecticut, where she served as Rector for more than eight years. Simultaneously she held the title of Corporate Secretary for the Episcopal Church in Connecticut (ECCT). She has also served ECCT as a member of the Standing Committee, a Title IV Conciliator, a Transition Consultant, a Clergy Delegate to Province One Synod of the Episcopal Church, Alternate Deputy to General Convention, as Secretary to the Mission Council, Secretary of the Faith and Order Commission, and as a member of the Core Team of the Racial Healing, Justice, and Reconciliation Network.
In her spare time, Mother Cosman considers herself a Lego enthusiast, angler, cyclist, novice woodcrafter, and folk music guitarist. She also enjoys baking, attending local musical and theatrical performances, going to the movies, reading, and—most importantly—spending time with her family.
